Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Learners are expected to hold a recognised secondary school qualification or equivalent.

  • Mature applicants without formal qualifications may be considered on the basis of relevant work experience and their ability to meet the demands of the programme.

English Language Requirements

Learners must demonstrate English language proficiency sufficient to successfully engage with programme materials, participate in learning activities, and complete assessments. This may be evidenced through prior education completed in English or through a recognised English language qualification.

For learners whose first language is not English, an IELTS 5.5 (overall) or above  is normally accepted for entry to the diploma.

  • Duolingo English Test: 95

  • TOEFL iBT: 46

Course Units

  • This unit examines the principles governing legally binding agreements, including offer and acceptance, consideration, intention to create legal relations, terms, breach, and remedies. Learners develop the ability to analyse contractual disputes and apply legal reasoning to commercial and consumer scenarios.

  • Criminal Law explores the foundations of criminal liability, including actus reus and mens rea, as well as key offences such as homicide, theft, and non-fatal offences against the person. The unit develops critical understanding of how criminal responsibility is established and defended within the justice system.

  • This unit introduces learners to the structure of the English legal system, sources of law, judicial precedent, statutory interpretation, and legal research skills. It builds essential analytical and problem-solving abilities required for academic legal study and professional practice.

  • Public Law focuses on constitutional principles, the separation of powers, parliamentary sovereignty, the rule of law, and judicial review. Learners examine the relationship between the state and individuals, including the protection of rights and the accountability of public authorities.

  • This unit explores the principles of equity, the creation and administration of trusts, fiduciary duties, and equitable remedies. It develops understanding of fairness-based doctrines that complement and modify common law rules.

  • EU Law examines the development, institutions, and legal principles of European Union law, including supremacy, direct effect, and free movement provisions. Learners analyse the interaction between EU law and domestic legal systems and its continuing legal relevance.

  • Land Law studies the legal framework governing interests in land, including ownership, leases, easements, mortgages, and registered land. The unit develops the ability to analyse property rights and resolve disputes relating to land transactions.

  • The Law of Tort focuses on civil wrongs and liability, including negligence, occupiers’ liability, nuisance, and vicarious liability. Learners gain the skills to assess duty of care, breach, causation, and remedies in a range of personal and commercial contexts.
